I’m so glad you’re here
My name is Amber, and before anything else, I want you to know this is a space where you can exhale.
I grew up in South Africa, surrounded by love, care, and strong maternal figures who shaped so much of who I am today. My mom, my grandmother, and the women around me showed me what it means to hold others with warmth, to nurture, and to create a sense of safety that you can feel in your whole body.
For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to work with women and children. I got my bachelors degree in counselling psychology - not with a clear path in mind, but with a deep feeling that I was meant to support, uplift, and care for others in some way. I just didn’t yet know what that would look like.
Eventually, life led me to Copenhagen and my journey truly shifted when I became pregnant with my first daughter, I did what so many of us do. I prepared for birth. I read, I planned, I tried to understand every possible outcome. I thought that if I prepared enough, I would feel ready. And then came postpartum.
It was overwhelming in a way I had never expected. I had believed, like many of us are taught, that this time would feel instinctive and blissful. And while there were moments of beauty, there were also moments of confusion, exhaustion, and disconnection. When I became pregnant with my second, everything looked different again - it was calm, grounded, and incredibly healing in a way I didn’t know I needed. There were new emotions, new challenges, and new layers of myself unfolding. And somewhere in that space, something became very clear to me.
We are not preparing mothers for what comes after birth. We place so much focus on the birth itself, as if it is the final destination. But birth is only the beginning. It is the doorway into everything that follows. Not preparing for postpartum feels a little like preparing for a wedding but not for a marriage. And that is where everything changed for me.
The idea of becoming a postpartum doula started as a quiet feeling, something sitting gently at the back of my mind. And over time, it grew into something I could no longer ignore. I followed that pull, became certified, and stepped into this work with my whole heart. Because I truly believe that every mother deserves to be held.
Especially in those moments where the village feels far away. Especially when you are navigating this in a place that does not feel like home. Especially when you are unsure, overwhelmed, or simply in need of someone to sit beside you and say, you are doing enough.
My work is about creating that space for you - a space where you feel seen, supported, and never judged. A space where you can be exactly as you are. A space where you are held, so that you can hold your baby.
This is not about doing it perfectly. This is about being supported while you find your way.
And I’m here to walk that with you.
